Hugo Nogueira studied jazz and classical guitar at the three most prestigious Conservatories in Sao Paulo, Brazil. During this time, he studied classical guitar under the tutelage of the renowned classical guitar pedagogue, Henrique Pinto. While working on his Master’s degree with Michael Kozubek at APU, he participated in guitar festivals such as La Guitarra in San Luis Obispo, Sierra Nevada Guitar festival, and New Mexico Guitar Festival.
Hugo won the 2011 American Guitar Society competition in Los Angeles, California. Additionally, he has had masterclasses with worldclass classical guitarists such as Ana Vidovic, Jason Vieaux, Scott Tennant, and Marc Teicholz. In 2012, he graduated with a Master’s degree in Classical Guitar Performance. In the fall of 2013, Hugo was awarded an assistantship to teach guitar ensemble and private guitar lessons whilst working on his Doctorate in Classical Guitar Performance with Ricardo Cobo at UNLV. In 2014 and 2015, Hugo was invited to be part of the committee for guitar competitions at the Clark County School District, Las Vegas Academy, and Junior festival in Las Vegas, Nevada. In the last few years, Hugo has been performing in different states across USA such as California, Nevada, New Mexico, and Michigan. In May 2017, Hugo graduated with a Doctor of Musical Arts.
